I don’t know about you, but it is important for me to remain creative. Not only for myself, but for my clients. If I lose my creativeness, I’m in trouble! On time when I had reached the end of my ropes of endless tasks, projects and being exhausted, I realized I had lost my creativity. I also realized I wasn’t enjoying what I was doing anymore. I thought to myself, “why on earth should I be working this hard to end up not enjoying it?”.
Making Building Your Business Easier.
I have found that I wasn’t the only business owner that felt like they were overworked and still not seeing the results I was looking for. That was back when I realized that business is a system, made up of sub-systems. A well design system will produce the same desired results every time. So whatever kinds of results you are getting now, that is what your business is designed to put out. Life is this way to, if you don’t design it, others will design it for you. When others are in control, you can find yourself looking back over the years and not liking what you see.
You must know what you want your life to look like. Once you are clear on that, you will have a better chance of seeing if what you are currently doing is going to get you to that desired place. If not, it’s time to change what you are doing. How we spend out days is ultimately how we spend our life. I know for me, I want to enjoy my life doing the things I have been called to do! And it’s hard to do those things if my workflow is cluttered with meaningless tasks that kill my creativity.
Finding Your Creative Flow
When I realized that I had a creative flow and that there were many things I was doing on a daily basis that was taking me out of that creative flow, I knew changes needed to change.
These changes might look like:
– A complete career change.
– A different business model.
– Hiring or firing team staff.
– Changing your morning routine.
– Stop multitasking!
– Etc.
When trying to discover your creative flow, you need to start to monitor when you feel like you are in the “zone”, when you find yourself loving what you do, when you feel like you are going to explode creativity. When you can find what causes you to get in the zone, you will be able to get in that zone much more often and you will be able to start to see what keeps you from getting into your creative zone.
I have also found that when you find yourself dreading a certain task, or avoiding that one project, chances are that is something that keeps you from your creative zone.
If you are still having trouble discovering what gets you in the zone, start looking at what areas of your business you really enjoy doing. Take a look at what kind of testimonials you are getting from clients, what are they specifically giving you credit for. Maybe it is how you remain focused even in stressful times. Or how strategic you are while planning a campaign. These can give you a tip off of what might cause you to get into your zone.
Focusing In On The Profit
Once you discover your creative flow, it’s time to look at if you are actually getting paid for those things. I have found for myself and for my clients, often the primary things we love doing and got major results with, we weren’t actually getting paid for. For example, with my agency, we have done a lot of web sites for companies. We never really planned on doing it, it just sort of happened. It was during that time, I realized I was helping these companies with their main brand messaging for their entire company while I was working on their web sites. Which ended up being a bonus for them, but all I was getting paid for was to design their web site, not necessarily their entire brand messaging. That’s when I decided I really enjoyed the branding part of things much more than all the things that goes into managing a team of people that build sites. See what I mean? That is when I shifted my focus.
Now You
Now it’s time for you to take a close look at what you are getting paid for and does it line up with the stuff you do when you are in your creative zone? Let me know what you think in the comments below.
When you’re creative, you bring results to the market place, which then brings more profits for you.

An intriguing discussion is worth comment. I think that you ought to write
more about this issue, it may not be a taboo matter but typically people do not
talk about such topics. To the next! Many thanks!
