I found myself saying, “I’m sick of this crap!” – But, before I tell you why, let me ask you a question…
Have you ever said something like, “There has got to be more to life than this!” Maybe you have found yourself doing the same routines everyday waiting for things to change. We do this in business a lot, we go through our daily tasks and routines, only to go to bed and get up to do it all over again. Years can go by before we notice this is happening.
I have found that many professionals find themselves in a vicious cycle endless tasks, project go bad right before a deadline, lack of focus, and just plain stressed out. If you looked at your daily routine, would you find yourself reacting to the situations all stressed and barely holding it together? Or do you find yourself creating solutions to the situations that come up? What I have found is, you are either living in a reactive mode or a creative one. If you are caught in the whirlwind of craziness, chances are you are in reactive mode.
It is time to break the mold that we have been living in and say enough is enough, something is going to change!
If I may get real….
Now that we are a couple months into the new year, it’s time to examine if we are on the right track in moving forward to the goals we set in the new year. I began to see a cycle in my day to day activities that I knew was not going to take me to where I wanted to go this year. Because I listed out my goals for the year and created some processes to make it happen, I saw the pieces were not fitting together, I knew something needed to change… and fast!
I think the biggest indicator for me was, how I had been feeling. I am someone that will continue to push through and not really know when I am getting stressed. Over the years I have learned to notice little signs that tip me off that I might be stressed. For a while now, my days have been completely non-stop all the time with client projects, dead lines, tasks, and everything in between. And that was just the business side of my life!
I knew I had been running off of fumes for a while and it was beginning to affect my performance and my creativity. Both not good and both directly affecting my brand. I also knew that how we spend our days is ultimately how we spend our life, which lead me to say “I’m sick of this crap!”
So what did I do? I got away and unplugged! I went to the beach for a few days and did my best to stay off my iPhone. (Which for the most part I did)
During that time I forced myself to relax and not think about business. I also did some hard core examining. I believe as entrepreneurs, we started our entrepreneurial journey to have freedom and succeed, not be stressed out and struggling. A lot of what will determine your outcome is how you design things. We should be designing our business to produce the results we desire. For example, If it’s my desire to walk on the beach every morning and then take on some consulting and coaching calls, running a full service agency is not something I should probably be doing. Because running an agency is a different model compared to being a coach or consultant. See what I mean? We need to have a clear picture of what we want our life to look like so we can creatively and strategically design it.
Creating Instead of Reacting.
For many of us we get an idea and run with it. Then money gets tight, things come up and the whirlwind begins… We find ourselves reacting and doing what it takes to make our businesses work so we can pay our bills, we are in reactive mode all of the time. But what if you started creating a business using the gifts and talents God has given you, what would that look like? I bet you would start enjoying life more and Ruling Your Realm!
With the launch of the new look to my site, I am launching this new category called Creative Lifestyle. We will be talking about other areas than just business, we will be discussing how have a creative lifestyle where you are creating wealth and value around you. Sound good? 🙂

I want to hear from you… Do you find yourself living in a reactive mode to situations around you or are you living in a creative mode, where you are creating solutions and loving life at the same time? I would also like to know if you would like to read more about these kinds of topics?
