First off, let me say Welcome to Rule Your Realm!! This post is just the beginning of training and information that doesn’t include the fluff and “waste your time” information. We are about coloring outside the lines of traditional branding and ruling your realm in the marketplace and all areas of life.
To start things off, I want to let you know why the majority of people are going to leave this site and most likely never return…. Because they are LAZY! But, the good news is, you don’t have to be one of those! What I am about to share with you is for the people who are fed up with the mold they have been forced into… In their business, in their jobs, in their finances and even in their life as a whole!
So What is Rule Your Realm? Well, it’s a lot of things…
It’s making your mark in your marketplace, it’s making a smooth running machine inside your office & business, it’s not being a slave to debt, but ruling your finances and all areas of life! So often we are controlled and manipulated to think a certain way, to make decisions that we would never want to make… And the worst part is, 98% of people don’t even know they are being controlled!
Something that is hurting you…
Something I am so tired of seeing and most likely hurting you in ways you don’t know about is what I call “copy cat syndrome“… You know, when everyone is copying everyone else without ever knowing if the person or brand they are copying is being successful at what they are doing. I see this all the time with web sites, Social profiles, landing pages, business cards and so on. The thing is…
Just because someone else is doing it, doesn’t mean it’s working for them. It’s extremely risky copying someone’s landing page when you don’t even know if it is converting. It is also risky copying a brand when you haven’t done your homework. When designing your brand, it is important to know what message and image you want to express to your target market. As well as, what kind of message and image your target market is going to respond to in a positive way. But, that’s just the beginning to smart, strategic branding…
Humanizing Your Brand.
Let’s face it, unless you are Apple (Which I’m guessing your are not) people are not going to be loyal to you because of your logo or your super cool tagline. People are loyal to people, plain and simple. This is something many corporate brands are realizing and making significant changes to how they use Social Media. Adding a personality or persona to your brand is huge! This is not a new concept, but seems to be something many brands have forgotten. Now, many brands are bringing back the human factor to their brand. For example, Toyota and their Sienna Family, to how company employees interact with each other through Social Media, to how companies communicate with customers in very creative ways. (We will be talking about this in much more detail in a future post)
Humanizing your brand is a big deal, no matter if you are a solopreneur, an entertainer or a big company. People want to connect with people, they want to feel like they belong to something. Showing your prospects that you are a real person and create trust and loyalty that will keep your customers and clients coming back to you and not your competitors. This is why you need to break the mold and stand out from the crowd…
“You Will Never Stand Out Being Like Everyone Else”
History shows us that if you want to stand out from the masses, you have to be different than everyone else. You have to be willing to do or stand for something others are not willing to do or stand for. You must be willing to go against the grain and be different. From Abraham Lincoln to Thomas Edison, to Steve Jobs. All were willing to be different and stand for something even when people didn’t like them. This is key when you want to Rule Your Realm in the marketplace. If you spend all your time trying to be like your competitors, you are just a copy cat. But, if you are willing to express your personality through your brand and show the world you are different then the “other guys”, you will get noticed!
Many are afraid to be themselves in front of others, because they are afraid people wont like them. Well, not everyone liked good ol’ Abe either! But he didn’t let that stop him from moving forward with great purpose. When building your brand, you need to allow your personality through, otherwise you will spend your whole life being someone you are not. And who wants that?!
We could continue talking about this for a long time, but you get the idea. So this is something you need to ask yourself…
“What Makes My Brand Different?” But, I don’t want you to just think about it… I want you to tell me! 🙂
So here is the deal…
I have Starbucks gift cards that I need to get rid of because, I drink way too much mochas as it is! So I need to pass these along to fellow coffee drinkers. So in order to grab one of these gift cards, I want you to leave me a comment below telling me what makes your brand unique. Then a few winners will receive their Starbucks gift cards and go drink some coffee!
Sound good? leave me a comment below and remember… It’s time to Rule Your Realm!!

Paul, you are so on point. My sentiments exactly! It is so encouraging when I receive confirmations of my thoughts – ESPECIALLY coming from you. Thanks, looking forward to learning more about ruleyourrealm – congratulations!
Thanks Regina!! You are right about your thoughts, without a doubt! We are just getting started here, so stay tuned! 🙂
Thank you for your support Regina! 🙂
first of all, i must thank Regina for sharing this on her FB fan page…probably wouldn't have seen it otherwise.
what makes my brand unique? i promise i'm not kissing arse (am i allowed to say that here?!), but i've said over and over again what you stated above – be yourself. own your individuality. i speak it and live it. and as a result, my blog readers appreciate my unfiltered honesty. women need to abandon the "let's all play nice together in the sandbox" notion. you're rewarded for breaking away from the pack. that's the only way you'll win.
Thanks for stopping by Miss Donna! You are right on, you do need to own your individuality.
Just like the saying goes… "If you have no idea what to do, look at what everyone else is doing and do the opposite"
The same can hold true in business and branding. It's time to break the mold huh!? 🙂
Oh, wow.
This post solidified something for me. Here's the quote that did it:
"People are loyal to people, plain and simple."
So true!
When I photograph clients who represent a strong brand, I strive to find the spirit of the business or that individual's personal contribution to the strength of the company and reflect it in the portrait. I feel like I've been successful when I've revealed the pride, the enthusiasm, the business acumen, the strength, the inspiration – whatever that person brings to the table.
The brand is a wonderful thing. But ultimately, the brand is only as accessible as its people are.
And the fact that I do that, well, that's what makes me original.
Hi Cynthia!
Thanks for stopping by!
That is awesome! It sounds like you are doing a great job. And you are right one, especially when it comes to a personal brand. No matter what someone says they are, if they are a jerk, people aren't going to be loyal to that brand! 🙂
Keep up the great work Cynthia!
