And his life was changed….
Last year I wrote my very first blog post for SteamFeed.com. Well, actually it was more of a podcast about a marketer and a homeless man and how the marketer changed this homeless man’s life forever. And he did it with words. When I saw the video below I was shocked because it was such a similar story. I hope you enjoy it!
I think it is safe to say that most would be believe there is power in words. We have all felt the pain of a hurtful word spoken to us in anger and we have experienced a comforting word from a caring person. What they said made a difference in how we felt or looked at a situation.
Proverbs 18:21 says “Death and life are in the power of the tongue..”
First, I would encourage you to examine yourself. Are you speaking life to those around you or are you tearing people down? How about yourself? Are you saying things like “my business will never succeed” or “this is never going to work”? What you say often reveals what you actually believe.
Second, as entrepreneurs we have such an amazing opportunity to change people’s situations around us. It could be by writing some killer sales copy, like the lady did in the video for the homeless man, or an amazing blog post… It’s amazing what changing a few words can do. Or it could be you speaking life and giving hope to your client over coffee.
Far too often we live in our own bubble, only focusing on ourselves. What a shame… We miss out on so much that way. When we are truly Ruling our Realm, we will changes lives to those that enter into our realm.
It’s a different mindset that needs to happen. Instead of being a greedy and selfish person only thinking about how you can squeeze another buck out of this person, try the real Rule Your Realm mindset. Which is, “how can I add so much amazing value to the people I come in contact with, their lives will be changed for the better?”. It’s about leaving the world a better place then how you found it.
Enjoy the video and make a commitment to Break The Mold and use words to create life! It’s not just what you say, but how you say it…

I see this blinking curser waiting for me to say something. I deal with the unfortunate downcast people everyday, and for me a simple smile, a “good morning” a “Happy New Year”, simple kindness turns many of these people around daily. This morning my clerk came to my desk and said “it’s good to see you and your smiling face”, I thought after being gone for two weeks on winter break, how kind of him, to address me specifically and let me know he appreciates me. It made my day.
Hi Rene’e! You sure do have daily opportunities! It’s amazing at how much good a smile or asking “how’s it going?” can do.
Keep up the great work Rene’e! You are being much light to a lot of hurting people! 🙂
